Congratulations on YOUR ENGAGEMENT!

Crete is the perfect place

to get married

There are lots of wonderful venues for your civil wedding in and around Rethymno. You may want to have the ceremony at the Town Hall in the Old Town of Rethymno, on one of the many beautiful beaches nearby, or anywhere else you’ve dreamed of. As well as advising and booking a location and venue for the ceremony, we can organise every last detail of the wedding ceremony, reception and honeymoon so you can relax and look forward to the big day knowing that everything is taken care of.

Just get in touch

and tell us about your vision for the day and we’ll help you turn it into a reality.

what we do

what to expect

Our wide range of bespoke services includes help with every aspect of your wedding, including the travel and transport, accommodation, catering, entertainment and your wedding dress. If you’d like an authentic Cretan outfit for the big day and special outfits for the reception we’ll refer to you our trusted partner at Klotho, who can custom-make traditional clothes for your guests too. We can even arrange your hair stylist and make-up artist, book a photographer/videographer, order your wedding cake and organise your flowers.

Civil weddings are fairly simple and brief in Greece. You’ll need two witnesses at the ceremony and official ID but don’t worry, the documentation is straightforward and we’ll send you full instructions once you’ve booked, or feel free to ask us anything in advance, we can also arrange a translator for the ceremony.

Important stuff

Legal documents
  • Full birth certificates of both parties
  • Certificates of no-impediment to marriage for both parties (they must not been issued more than 3 months before the wedding)
  • Divorce certificates (if you are divorced)
  • Certificate of name change (if you are divorced and have reverted to your maiden name)
  • Certificate of death of your spouse (if you are a widow/widower)
  • Certificate of adoption (if you are adopted)

All documents have to be originals or certified copies and should be apostilled, except the passport or ID-card copies. All documents must be translated into the Greek language. We can arrange the translation of your documents, and you will be charged according to the number of certificates you may require. In case we will take on the translation of your papers, you will have to send them to us, with the attached Apostille stamp, at least two months before your wedding. If for any reason your papers are not in order, the wedding will be cancelled or you can choose a symbolic wedding ceremony, which is exactly the same as the regular wedding ceremony but it will not be legal. For more information, citizens of European countries can contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and citizens of other continents can contact the Department of State of their country. On your arrival in Crete all your papers must be in order.

The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, the Apostille Convention, or the Apostille Treaty is an international. It specifies the modalities through which a document issued in one of the signatory countries can be certified for legal purposes in all the other signatory states. Such a certification authenticate the seals and signatures of officials on public documents such as birth certificates, notarials, or any other document, this is called anapostille. It is an international certification issued by a public authority so that they can be recognized in foreign countries that are parties to the Convention.
